Pseudogastromyzon cheni – Unique Chinese Hillstream Loach
The Pseudogastromyzon cheni, commonly known as the Chinese Hillstream Loach, is a fascinating freshwater fish admired for its flattened body, distinctive spotted patterns, and remarkable rock-clinging ability.
Native to fast-flowing streams in southern China, this unique bottom-dwelling species is specially adapted to life in clean, oxygen-rich water. Its broad pectoral and pelvic fins allow it to cling securely to smooth rocks while navigating strong currents.
These peaceful and entertaining loaches spend much of their time grazing on natural algae and biofilm, exploring rocky surfaces, and interacting with their surroundings.
Their unusual appearance and fascinating behaviour make them excellent additions to mature river-style aquariums with strong water circulation, smooth stones, and established natural grazing areas.
An exceptional choice for aquarists seeking a distinctive freshwater loach with interesting natural behaviour.
