L46 Zebra Pleco – Rare Black & White Freshwater Catfish
The L46 Zebra Pleco (Hypancistrus zebra) is one of the most distinctive and highly sought-after freshwater catfish in the aquarium hobby, admired for its spectacular black-and-white striped pattern and elegant appearance.
Native to the Rio Xingu basin in Brazil, this remarkable species features bold zebra-like markings across its compact, armoured body and beautifully patterned fins.
Unlike many common plecos, the L46 Zebra Pleco is not primarily an algae eater. It prefers a protein-rich diet consisting of high-quality sinking foods and small aquatic invertebrates.
Zebra Plecos thrive in warm, clean, highly oxygenated aquariums with rocky caves, stable water conditions, and good circulation.
Their relatively small adult size, extraordinary coloration, and fascinating cave-dwelling behaviour make them an exceptional choice for experienced aquarists and dedicated pleco enthusiasts.
