Pseudogastromyzon myersi – Unique Myers' Hillstream Loach
The Pseudogastromyzon myersi, commonly known as Myers' Hillstream Loach, is a fascinating freshwater fish admired for its flattened body, intricate natural markings, and remarkable rock-clinging abilities.
Native to fast-flowing streams in southern China, this distinctive species is specially adapted to life in clean, oxygen-rich water. Its broad pectoral and pelvic fins allow it to cling securely to rocks while navigating strong currents.
Myers' Hillstream Loaches spend much of their time exploring rocky surfaces and grazing on natural algae, biofilm, and tiny organisms.
Their unusual appearance and interesting bottom-dwelling behaviour make them excellent additions to mature river-style aquariums with smooth stones, established grazing surfaces, and strong water circulation.
An excellent choice for aquarists seeking a peaceful, distinctive, and entertaining freshwater loach.
